The details

What assignments may involve

Depending on the client and the shift, an assignment may include:

  • Answering booking calls
  • Entering and updating bookings
  • Allocating or communicating with drivers
  • Handling routine customer queries
  • Providing quotes using the client’s agreed rules
  • Monitoring dispatch activity
  • Overflow and out-of-hours call handling
  • Evening, weekend and lunch-break cover
  • Sickness, holiday and unexpected-demand support
  • Following agreed escalation procedures
  • Producing clear handover notes

The exact duties, systems, timing, access and escalation arrangements are confirmed before each assignment.

How assignment offers work

Approved suppliers may receive individual assignment opportunities. Each offer sets out the assignment reference, date and time, expected duration, duties, required systems, preparation requirements, fee, invoicing arrangements, cancellation terms and escalation contact.

You can accept or decline any assignment. There is no obligation on Veitch Ops to offer assignments and no obligation on you to accept them.

Remote-working requirements

Assignments are completed remotely using an agreed secure setup and the client’s authorised systems.

You’ll need a private working environment where client calls and personal data cannot be overheard or seen by others, and you must be able to work the agreed UK shift times regardless of your own time zone.

Equipment and connectivity
  • A suitable, secure computer
  • A professional headset
  • Reliable broadband
  • Appropriate backup connectivity, such as mobile data
  • A private working area

Client software access is arranged only where required and authorised.

Assessment and onboarding

Suitable applicants complete realistic booking, customer-service and dispatch scenarios. These look at accuracy, telephone manner, listening, decision-making, written notes, escalation judgement and the ability to handle pressure.

Before assignments can be offered, successful applicants may need identity verification, references, evidence of relevant experience, right-to-work or right-to-operate checks, safeguarding awareness, data-security checks, confidentiality documentation, a supplier agreement and client-specific system authorisation.

DBS and safeguarding

Booking and dispatch work may require evidence of a recent Basic DBS check, and inclusion on a client operator’s booking and dispatch staff register. Outsourcing dispatch does not remove a client operator’s safeguarding responsibilities, so these checks protect everyone involved.

At registration stage we only ask whether you would be willing to complete or present the required check. Please do not send criminal-record information, certificates or identity documents through this website.

Data security and confidentiality

Dispatch work means handling real customer and driver information. Approved suppliers sign confidentiality and data-security terms, and are expected to maintain strong practices around device security, screen privacy and information handling.

Client system access is granted only where authorised, and only for the duration it is needed.

Payment and invoicing

The scope, timing and fee for each assignment are explained before it is accepted. Approved independent suppliers submit invoices in accordance with their supplier agreement.

We don’t pay per call. Veitch Ops is building a quality-led service, and we don’t want incentives that encourage rushed calls or poor after-call work.

Working from outside the UK

Veitch Ops works remotely and welcomes interest from experienced dispatch professionals in different countries. You must be able to communicate professionally in English, understand UK private-hire operations, work the agreed UK shift times and meet our security and connectivity requirements.

Some client systems contain UK personal information. Overseas access may require additional contractual, security or data-transfer safeguards. We’ll confirm what is required before an assignment is offered.

We can’t promise that every country can automatically be onboarded — international contracting, client approval, system access and data-protection requirements are checked during onboarding.

Independent-supplier information

These opportunities are intended to be independent supplier assignments rather than guaranteed employment. In practice that means no guaranteed assignments, no obligation to accept work, assignments offered individually with the fee agreed beforehand, suppliers invoicing Veitch Ops, and suppliers remaining free to work for other businesses.

Employment and tax status depend on the eventual written agreement and how the working arrangement operates in practice, so nothing here should be taken as confirmation of a particular status for any individual.

Frequently asked questions

Is this employment? Opportunities may be offered on an independent supplier basis, subject to a written agreement and the reality of the working arrangement. Employment and tax status depend on the eventual written agreement and how the arrangement operates in practice, not on the label used here.

Do I have to accept work? No. Individual assignments may be accepted or declined.

Can I work for other businesses? Yes, subject to confidentiality and data-security obligations.
